The Power of Partnership in Serenity by Sina:
When I first started Serenity by Sina, it was just me, my ideas, and my trusty occasional sidekick - mother dearest. She was always there, offering a hand when I needed help, whether it was inspiration for artworks or helping set up at pop up Maketi Moana (market) stalls. But now, there's a new dynamic. A soulful spark. A new partner who has entered my life and inspired me even more to the possibilities of this creative outlet. It’s funny how life works, isn’t it? I always knew I needed more help, but I never expected that help to come in the form of a life partner who not only supports me but shares my vision in such a beautiful and creative way.
Enter my paga (partner), my co-conspirator in this wild world of small business. Together, we’ve been building something more than just candles; we’re also weaving stories into each flicker of flame. One of the freshest things my partner recently introduced is a monthly tradition where we share a Pasifika or Native inspired story, and with that tale, we craft a unique candle. It’s a beautiful idea—one that truly captures the essence of what Serenity by Sina stands for. But let me tell you, it’s also a lot of coconut wax, a lot of vessels, and a whole lot of time. I mean, we’re talking about crafting a story and turning it into a candle, complete with scents, colors, and details with the packaging that transport you right into the heart of the narrative. It’s no small task. But here’s the thing: with the power of two, things feel… well, achievable. No longer am I burning the midnight oil alone. No longer am I trying to juggle every task by myself. Now, I have someone who is as inspired by the creative process as I am and motivates me like my own personal cheer squad. Someone who is as passionate about bringing stories to life as I am about making candles that tell those stories. And honestly, that partnership has breathed new life into Serenity by Sina.
There’s something so special about having a helping hand who not only gets the work but loves the work. Picture this, my partner painting the base backgrounds on my mini canvases (yes, my candles also include mini works of art). I can't even describe how wonderful it is to have someone there who says, “Hey, I got you!” while I focus on the other parts of the process. It’s moments like these that make me truly appreciate the beauty of partnership, both in life and in business. Together, we’re not just building a brand. We’re building something more meaningful, something rooted in love, creativity, and shared vision.
I truly believe that God works in mysterious ways, bringing people into your life when you least expect it, and sometimes, just when you need them the most.
The transition from a one-woman team to a two-person operation has been nothing short of magical. And while the journey is still unfolding, I can’t help but smile as I look at what we’ve created so far—and all the beautiful stories we have yet to tell. Here’s to partnership, creativity, and the beautiful journey ahead! Happy Valentines month whanau ❤️
